The heart is one of the most important organs in your body, and in some ways the most familiar; we know we have to keep it healthy to live well, most of us know someone who has had a heart problem or even a heart attack, and it’s one of the few organs that we can actually feel as it functions (just put your hand in the middle of your chest!). But there are some things that you may not know about your heart that can help you understand why it’s so important.
1. Athletes actually appear to have smaller hearts. The heart is a muscle, as are your biceps. But while striving for big muscles might be an athlete’s visible goal, on x-ray a really good athlete’s heart looks SMALLER than average. That’s a sign of an efficient heart - a heart that pumps blood well squeezes very hard to send as much blood as possible to the body with every beat. An enlarged heart, in contrast, may indicate that the heart’s having to work too hard because of muscle damage or the increased effort of moving blood through clogged arteries.
2. The “lub-dub” that your heart makes when beating is the sound of heart valves closing. The human heart has four chambers with valves - little one-way doors - between them. If the heart is working correctly, you hear “lub” when blood first enters the heart and ‘dub” after it leaves. If doctor hears a ’swish” or “gurgle” - murmurs - instead of a thump, that may be a sign that the valves aren’t working as well as they should. Extra sounds (lub-dadub) sometimes indicate uncoordinated valve action (indicating heart injury) but it may be just be the sign of a young and athletic heart.
3. The heart needs blood, just like all your other organs. The heart fills with blood and then pumps the blood to the body about once a second or more. But it doesn’t take nutrients and oxygen directly from the blood before pumping it; instead it pumps the heart through a series of blood vessels called arteries. Each organ has groups of arteries that deliver oxygen and nutrients to it - including the heart! These are called “coronary” arteries; if these arteries are narrowed or damaged, the heart may have trouble receiving the nutrients and oxygen it needs to live.
4. Heart cells (myocytes) are precious. Unlike skin, which quickly heals after most injuries, if heart cells are injured or killed during a myocardial infarction (or “heart attack”) they are difficult to repair or replace. For many years, in fact, it was believed that you only had one set of myocytes, and once damaged, they could never be replaced. Recent research suggests that there may be cells in the heart (stem cells) that can develop into myocytes if needed, but how they are triggered and how long it takes them to repair damaged tissue isn’t known. It is known however that heart damage is difficult to overcome, so prevention is an important part of taking care of your heart.
5. Your heart is a piece of electronic equipment. Myocytes use electrical signals as a means of communicating with one another and coordinating the beating of the heart. The flow of electricity is recordable by an electrocardiograph (ECG). An ECG of a damaged heart can be comparing the flow of electrical waves in the heart to waves in the normal heart to determine what sort of damage has been done. In addition, if there is significant damage to the electrical communication between heart cells, an artificial pacemaker (usually called a pacemaker) may be implanted in the heart to coordinate the electrical signals used and keep the heart beat regular and coordinated. Many hospitals request that cell phones not be used in certain locations in the hospital because of artificial pacemakers - in rare cases, cell phones have been known to interfere with the functioning of pacemakers. Pacemaker users are recommended to use their cell on the opposite side from where their pacemaker is implanted.

Here’s how to hold a short, effective staff meeting.
1) In general. Keep them short. Most staff meetings should last less than an hour. You want your staff to spend their time working on things that earn money for your business, not sitting in meetings. Keep them positive. Negative meetings contain insults, ridicule, and attacks. These activities create caution and resentment, which always costs your company money. Keep them interactive. Your staff consists of intelligent people. Put them to work in your meetings to advance the effectiveness of your organization.
2) Share news. Give the members of your group one minute to report on progress made in their area of responsibility. You’ll find that this results in bullet point reports of essential information. It also prevents people from philosophizing, explaining, justifying, criticizing, and engaging in other unproductive activities. Plan a time budget: 8 to 10 minutes.
3) Teach something. Invite a guest expert to give a 10 minute presentation on some skill or technology that benefits your group. Tell the expert that you want a logical explanation of practical ideas. You can also ask members of your group to take turns delivering brief tutorials on topics that benefit the others. Plan a time budget: 10 to 15 minutes.
4) Practice skills. Create team learning activities that sharpen or teach skills needed in your business. For example, you could role play job skills (especially useful for sales teams), solve puzzles (useful for high tech groups), or take quizzes (useful for everyone). Ask group members to take turns bringing an activity that reviews or teaches a valuable skill. Follow this activity with a brief recap of key ideas. Then ask the group members to give a fifteen second report on how these ideas can be applied to improve their work. Plan a time budget: 10 to 20 minutes.
5) Solve problems. Give each group member a minute to describe a challenge that hinders work on a current project and then let everyone propose solutions. Suggestions should be brief and free of self aggrandizing explanations or motivational sermons. This process also requires a positive, supportive environment to succeed. If this is used to ridicule, insult, or criticize the individual, then people will be reluctant to reveal issues that need attention. Plan a time budget: 3 to 6 minutes per person.
6) Use a facilitator. A facilitator will help you conduct meetings where the results matter. That way, you can participate, rather than spend your time managing the meeting. A good facilitator will know group decision making processes that move your meeting toward results everyone supports.

Do you know the meaning of a safe place to fall? Parents are to give their children that place where no matter what they do or the mistakes they make, we love them unconditionally and give them “A SAFE PLACE TO FALL”
Growing up I was taught that the Lord also gave us a safe place to fall. He washed away our sins and had an unfailing love, no matter what mistakes we made on our path we could turn toward him. He teaches us how to be a better parent and a better person and what it means to have unfailing love. “Psalm 13:5″ NIV
This all leads up to a news broadcast I just happened to hear on the television the other day. I was watching my morning news show when they had a young man, a father of 2 boys and husband to a beautiful wife explain his plight of a near disaster the day before.
This young man had decided to fulfill a life long dream and parachute out of a plane. He was trained beforehand and taught all the necessary items needed for a successful jump. It was a jump that was tethered to the aircraft and the tether yanked the rip cord that released his parachute and got him safely to earth. He said he was very excited about this jump and felt very prepared to take it, but what that jump did for him that day was more than he had ever bargained for. He not only experienced the free falling to earth but had also taken a leap of faith and was given a sign from our Maker.
As he jumped out of the plane that Sunday in August, he realized that something was terribly wrong. He was spinning out of control and having trouble figuring out his position in the sky. He struggled to try and figure out which hand was left and which hand was right, and he couldn’t tell his altitude. He was taught that if he pulled his backup parachute after 2000 feet it was sure death. Disoriented from the fall he made no attempt to try and pull his parachute. What he did do, was something we as Christians should always do when faced with extraordinary circumstances, he started to pray. He said a prayer similar to this: I believe in you Lord, I trust in you and if there is any way for you to save me from this fall and allow me to see my family again, I would be truly blessed. He said at that very moment of prayer, he felt what he couldn’t explain, a warm hug that wrapped around him and he knew that whatever happened in his fall would be okay. Miraculously, the Lord answered his prayers and somehow he fell into a soft spot of the earth, where the ground was cushioned, literally, a SAFE PLACE TO FALL. Surviving a fall like that was miracle in itself but the young man had only suffered a broken leg and a fractured jaw. The power of prayer and its wonders is a true testimonial for this young father to share with his family and the world.
I can only hope that my belief in the Almighty and what he can do for me is as strong as this young man’s faith. I know that I can always call upon the Lord when my life is spinning out of control and he will give me A SAFE PLACE TO FALL. What a comfort.

How to write a press release is a major challenge facing both experienced and aspiring PR professionals.
Press release writing is a learned skill. This article contains press release sample writing, including that all important first paragraph.
“If it bleeds it leads” is a famous saying amongst news editors on why certain stories are on page one or first up in a TV or radio news bulletin.
With so many big news stories breaking recently, such as the Pope’s death and the Navy helicopter crash in Indonesia, how can you make your media release stand out?
Well, the success of a news release being followed up by the media depends on the all important lead or first paragraph.
After the headline, this is the first message an editor or journalist will read and it is one of those critical moments of truth when you either win over or lose the media.
The first paragraph sets the structure for the whole of the media release.
Take this example of a very poorly written opening or lead paragraph that was actually sent out from the office of Northern Territory Opposition spokesman, Richard Lim on March 9, 2005.
Shadow Minister for Employment Education and Training Dr Richard Lim says that private registered training organisations which provided vocational education and training for Territorians are struggling to survive because over the last two years, the Northern Territory Government has a policy of using the Equipment Grants for government providers only, they being the Charles Darwin University and Batchelor of Indigenous Tertiary Institution.
(Source: D.D. McNicoll, The Diary, Media Section, The Australian, Thursday march 17th, 2005, pg 22.)
What is this person trying to say?
As a media and communications specialist working with clients, I find I spend at least half my writing time working on that all important first paragraph. It is were all the value is.
Here are my Ten Commandments for writing a great lead paragraph. A good lead paragraph must:
1. Summarise The Whole Story.
This is the sharp end of your message and the reader must understand what the whole story is about just by reading the first paragraph. The most important and critical information must come first.
2. Answer The Five W’s.
It must answer the who, what, when, where, and why of the story.
3. Grab Your Attention.
Like a good headline, the lead paragraph must grab and hold the attention of the reader.
4. Make Every Word Count.
Aim for brevity and word economy. Less is more. Edit out words to increase impact.
5. Make Sense.
Write for meaning.
6. Be Accurate.
Always stick to the facts and be truthful, no matter how bad the news. Avoid fluff and hype. Remember it has to be newsworthy.
7. Keep To One Sentence.
Simplicity is the key to great lead paragraphs.
8. Provide Context.
If you are introducing an organisation or person for the first time, put this in context by providing descriptive, detailed and meaningful words immediately prior to the company or individual name.
For example:
Thomas Murrell - poor, no one knows who he is!
International business speaker and co-author of Understanding Influence For Leaders At All Levels, Thomas Murrell - better and puts person in context.
Different descriptions can be used, depending on your objectives and the context of the release.
9. Be Precise.
Precision is vital. Out of all the information you could get across what is the most important? This must be communicated in a precise way.
10. Edit, Check and Proofread A Minimum of Three Times.
Nothing will shoot your credibility down like a typo or error in the lead paragraph. First impressions count no matter how good the story is. Professionalism is essential. Get someone else to check and read your release.

Lingerie is a personal choice and patterns can range from practical to sexy. When a man presents you with lingerie it means he has progressed beyond the casual relationship to something deeper. He knows your taste and is confident that you will not be offended by the gift.
Bras come in a variety of shapes and sizes, the number representing the woman’s girth and the letter the cup size of the breasts. However, bras worn with t-shirts or for sports activities have a slightly different nomenclature. Underwear comes in L, XL, XXL, or XXXL or sizes 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and so on.
A lingerie shop, whether online or brick-and-mortar, can be quite intimidating. There are so many choices and options. When in doubt or in need of advice or guidance, do not hesitate to ask for assistance. Sales people are well-versed in the subtleties of lingerie and would be happy to help.
Before you buy a pattern find out what babydoll, basque, bodystocking, bustier, garter, gel-filled, padded, wired, hipsters and so on mean. Find out which style will enhance positive features such as beautiful breasts, a sexy derriere, soft skin, or rounded contours. The lingerie style must add to the overall look and not create negative visions like the panty line showing through pants, or breasts that look too full or appear to sag.
While lingerie must be comfortable, it should hug the body without cutting into the skin or flesh. Well-chosen lingerie will help create or enhance body shape so that the clothes then drape well.
There are hundreds of sites like Amazon http://www.amazon.com; and Victoria’s Secret http://www.victoriassecret.com/ among others that showcase all aspects of the lingerie world.
Lingerie, like other clothing, has styles in vogue for different seasons, offering women a choice of colors as well as styles. And designers invite women of all shapes and sizes to explore their natural sensuality and discover themselves.
Plus Size provides detailed information on Plus Size, Plus Size Clothing, Plus Size Lingerie, Plus Size Swim Wear and more. Plus Size is affiliated with Plus Size Teen Clothing.

I would like you to begin thinking of mailboxes in a new way.
Contrary to popular belief - it isn’t a symbol of an inept postal service. In fact- it is one of the Best ways to communicate with your customers. And I am not talking about sales flyers either!
Are You Saying Thank-You To Your Customers?
Here is one of the shocking basics of selling.
If you don’t THANK YOUR CUSTOMERS for choosing you - you are average - perhaps even less than average.
I want you to consider the thousands of dollars you have spent in the last month. Mortgages, car payments, groceries, advertising, marketing - and yet - I would bet a Diva Dollar that very few - IF ANY - thank you cards have hit your mailbox.
Saying Thank-You Is Being Respectful
Remember - your customers have options. They could have chosen someone else. They could have waited and done nothing at all. Instead - they chose you.
So what have you done to thank them?
Here is a Diva Rule - E-mails Don’t Count!
Why? Simply - they are boring. And if you look in the Sales Diva Dictionary under the word BORING, you will find this phrase: Losing Money.
I Lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve Getting Fun-Mail - Don’t You?
I don’t know about you - but I will open a personal card with handwriting much faster than I would open a bill. Your customers feel the same way!
Five Sales Diva Rules of Saying Thanks:
1. Show attention to detail. Send a personal thank you note in the mail within 7 days of receiving business from a customer.
2. Don’t send a cheesy corporate card. Instead - find something that represents your customer!
3. Handwriting Rules. If you slap a cursory “Thanks for your business” and signature - you are wasting a stamp. Write a short note directly to the person as well.
4. Don’t Pre-Write The Card. As tempting as it may be to pre-write cards - don’t do it. It will come across as vague and “canned”.
5. Thank ANYONE that helps you. If someone gives you a lead, a phone number, some Free Advice - anything that makes your life a little easier - pop a card into the mail saying Thank You!
Don’t let another week go by without thanking your customers as well as the many people that help you. We all remember those who are appreciative of our business and help - and we quickly
forget those who don’t. Where do you want to be?

Cross promotions are not a new idea. They have been used by businesses for a very long time. For example, a real-estate company may promote a certain lawyer to close a sale, as the lawyer will promote that agency in his firm. The system is somewhat similar to the primitive barter system, where people traded items rather than using money. How can anything primitive fit into the online world of Internet marketing? Very easily. Cross promotions are, simply stated, a trade of advertising space. Instead of paying for advertising space on a site, you would place their ad on your page and yours on theirs. There are many ways to use cross promotions in your internet business that can be an effective and cost efficient way to advertise.
One way is to use link exchanges. This is very effective when doing cross promotions with a company that is similar to yours, however you should be sure and never link to a page that is in direct competition with yours. One of the best things about link exchanges is that some search engines are factoring in hits from the sites that are linked to your page to when determining the ranking. Therefore linking to a more popular site, can not only increase your advertising, and traffic, but also increase your search engine ranking.
When customers or potential customers subscribe to your ezine you can use this as an opportunity to use cross promotions. On the same page that the customer subscribes to your ezine, make available the opportunity to subscribe to another company’s ezine. You can even exchange ad space in ezines, and provide recommendations for those whom you cross promote with. You might even want to exchange column space in one another’s ezines.
Writing free articles that inform customers or potential customers with information that is useful and accurate can create a reputation for you and your business. Soon readers will come to know you as an expert on the subject. In these articles the author uses a byline to help promote his site. Bylines can be a way to use cross promotions as well. You can use part of the space in your byline to recommend another’s product.
If you have been considering writing an ebook, a joint venture could mean increased profits for you and the person you are partnering with. Cross promotions through ebooks are an excellent way to allow for a wider topic and to promote both your business and your partner’s business. The ebook should contain information that will benefit both businesses and still be helpful to the reader. A good example of using cross promotions through an ebook is to a site selling used video games partnering with a site selling gaming devices. These are two subjects that would interest the same reader and most likely lead the reader to both sites.
You should keep in mind that the recommendations that you make are a direct reflection of you, so choose your cross promotional businesses carefully. Also keep in mind that it would be nice as a shopper to be able to link from one site to another as a way to “shop around.” Since this is usually not beneficial to you, never link or recommend a site that is in direct competition with you. Instead, recommend those who are similar, such as health and life insurance.

Recently I read a book by William L. Fischer called “Hidden Secrets of Super Perfect Health at Any Age”, Book II, 1986. In chapter 10, The F-M Circulizer System, he discusses the use of an herbal footbath. After reading this chapter, I understood the importance of using herbs in a footbath to improve your health. It’s a simple concept yet this is the first time I have read about this idea. This book was written in 1986 and Fischer claims this herbal footbath has been in use overseas since 1946!
When you use a footbath and heat the water, the veins in your feet start to dilate. Over a period of 20-30 minute, the warm water affects your entire vascular system and you get an improved circulation of blood throughout your body.
By adding herbs to hot water, the minerals from the herbs enter the soles of your feet and move into you blood stream. What this means is that you can introduce into your blood stream a variety of herbal chemicals into your body using the footbath. During the your footbath, these herbal chemical will be quickly circulated throughout your body and get used where there is a deficiency.
The herbal footbath can result in improved health provided you pick the herbs that are beneficial to your health. You can start by adding herbs that are high in minerals. Most people are deficient in alkaline minerals and have an acid body. Adding minerals into your body is a definite plus.
Here’s how to prepare and use an herbal footbath.
* Buy these four herbs that are high in minerals - alfalfa herb, parsley, horsetail herb, kelp herb. Buy 1-2 oz of each. This might cost you $10.00 or less
* Mix all 4 herbs
* Prepare an herbal infusion by boiling 2 - 3 cups of water. After boiling pull the water off the hot plate. Add 2 tablespoons of the mixed herbs. Let this mixture sit for 20 minutes. The longer you let this mixture sit the stronger the infusion will be.
* After 20 minutes, start your footbath and press the heat button
* Strain the herbal infusion using a strainer and a cloth so that no herbal particles are included in the tea infusion
* Add the infusion into the footbath
* Place you feet into the footbath for 20 - 30 minutes.
Use the footbath every other day for 30 days before going to bed. Then take a 7-day rest before you use another herbal mixture. If you want to treat a specific ailment, find the herbal mixture and use it in your footbath. Use it every other day for 30 days.
I have been using the footbath with herbs rich in minerals for 3 weeks and here’s what I noticed.
* Improved sleep
* Less pain in my shoulder joint
* More energy
*Eyes see clearer longer though out the day
* Warmer hands and feet
The footbath spa that I’m using is the Homedics model JetSpaUltra. I like this unit because it has a jet stream action and bubbling. It has a button for heat and a rotator to do manicuring. I don’t use the manicuring but you might. My daughter of 8 years likes play with these rotating items. And, it is easy to fill and clean.

A new survey reveals that in the last five years, the equity in the California real estate market has increased by more than one trillion dollars. A trillion dollars is a large number to ponder, but put in concrete terms, it can be represented by a stack of one hundred dollar bills that is six hundred thirty one miles high! This astronomical increase in California home values isn’t all that unique, however. Prices on the East Coast, particularly in the Washington, D.C. area, are increasing just as rapidly. There are areas on both coasts where home prices have tripled during the last five years. This, along with the dramatic increase in interest-only mortgages among homebuyers, suggests that home prices may be peaking.
In California, 35% of all mortgages written are interest-only mortgages. In Washington, the figure is a whopping 48%. With an interest-only mortgage, the homeowner pays only the interest on the home loan for the first few years of mortgage payments. After the agreed-upon period of time ends, the amount of the payment is adjusted to include a portion of the principal. This typically increases the amount of the payment by about one-third. Interest-only mortgages have gained in popularity as home prices have increased, mostly because buyers otherwise would not be able to afford to buy homes. The problem with these mortgages is that for the first few years of payments, the buyers aren’t actually paying anything for the home itself!
What these statistics tell us is that in California, more than one third of buyers cannot afford a mortgage that allows them to actually contribute to paying for the home when they move in, and in Washington, the figure is nearly one half. Experts disagree on exactly when the hot real estate market will collapse, but it would seem to the casual observer that when half of all buyers can’t actually afford to make payments on the home they’ve just purchased, the collapse may be near.
What does this mean for potential buyers? Anyone considering purchasing a home in the red-hot markets in California or on the East Coast should carefully consider whether or not they can actually afford to purchase a home. Qualifying for a loan isn’t good enough if you can’t actually make payments that will reduce your principal. If may be wiser to buy in a cheaper outlying area and commute. Others may wish to rent in the short term in hopes that the prices will soon decline. It is always difficult to predict which way the real estate market will go, but a market where one-third to one-half of buyers can’t actually reduce their principal should set off an alarm for anyone considering a real estate purchase.
