Challenge Your Problems

Life teaches us in peculiar ways. It knocks us down. It makes us struggle to get back up.

Blessings often appear as misfortunes and trials. When we challenge problems with solution-focused thought, needs are filled. We improve the lives of others and ourselves.

Challenging a problem begins with embracing it rather than resisting it. Accepting the truth about what is so places us in a position to learn and move forward.

Of course we will not have positive, accepting feelings each time life knocks us down. Yet we need not allow feelings of frustration to define our outcomes.

We can examine our thoughts and choose constructive reactions, responding consciously. Our faith and determination can be stronger than any misfortune.

Within each storm of life is hidden a key that will unlock another door that you were meant to walk through.

What has been the greatest challenge that you have conquered? What thoughts strengthened you to rise above this challenge? What blessings did you receive?

Challenge each problem you face with purposeful thought and determined action. Resolve that every situation you encounter will make you better, stronger, wiser, more skillful, and more loving.

By challenging problems with faith and conviction, you will create experiences of joy and lasting treasure.

Are we our own prisoners?

Imagine a person in a prison. He/she has been imprisoned for life and will wait till death in the prison.
What can possibly motivate such a person? What do these people look forward to in their lives?
Sometimes, we are also prisoners of our thoughts and our past deeds. We also have nothing else to look forward to. We only have regrets. At least, we can do something about the conditions, but the prisoners can do nothing. Life can be depressing at times. How to inspire ourselves in such conditions?

What is inspiration?

‘Inspiration’ the word as it is commonly understood means to experience a state of mind that propels us to work happily, try to achieve goals, and feel good about ourselves and the world.

How to break open the prison?

When we are not inspired and can set no goals, we feel that we are so helpless that nothing can be done. The first step would be to try finding stories of people such as Helen Keller who overcame so many difficulties to emerge victorious. That will give us a basic thought that things are not that bad. We will open at least one door of our prison with this thought.

Then go back in your memory. Try and think of instances when you felt good because of some achievements. It could be something very small. Anything. Like coming first in the class in your second year in school, or getting a good remark from a teacher for an essay or for a math answer. That will break open another door.

Now begin counting your blessings. Do you have a functioning kidney? Can you see? Can you hear? Can you smell? Are your hands ok and so on. Will you sell your eyes for any price? No! Who said that you have no money? You are a wealthy person who is unaware of your wealth, your blessings, Isn’t it? This will open one more door.

Break the last door open by thinking of the goals you might want to achieve. Believe that you can do that. Start planning. Think of ways. Talk to people. Be ready for a long struggle but with a firm resolve that you will achieve the goals. This will take you out of the prison of your thinking and make you a new person ready to fight.

Get set to go ahead. You are a winner in making!

Moving Forward: Fulfilling Your Dreams, Part 2

“The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
Fred Buechner, Wishful ThinkingA Theological ABC

As you think about what you could do to accomplish the dreams you have for your life, why not think of yourself as your own dream coach? You apply to yourself the techniques and strategies that a business coach would use when consulting with clients. What is good about this is that it gives you a different mind-set: instead of thinking of yourself as perhaps “dabbling” with your dreams, you see yourself as being serious about those dreams and doing something pro-active about them.

Where Do You Start?
The beginning point is obvious. You have to describe where you think your passions lie, and a dream that could embrace those passions. That can be challenging! I often hear women say, “I just don’t know what I want to do.” If I asked you what you would love to do, if you could do whatever you wanted to do, what would you say? Your response shouldn’t be based on whimsy or wishful thinking, but on your heart’s deepest motivations.

If you are not sure what motivates you the most, make a list of your meaningful experiences over the years. There will be a common motivational thread that was always present in your satisfying achievements and accomplishments. Look for what motivated you in each. Write down your answer. Your dream for this year should have those strong desires at its very core.

You can look at that dream and examine it to see the possibilities and truths it contains. Your dream should fulfill the temperament, talents, and desires God has given you. They are the map you need to discover the life that you would find worthwhile. They are also there to fulfill God’s purposes for your life! Many times knowledge of the different things that make up “who you are” can be lacking for several reasons— too busy a life, tending to others at your own expense, just “surviving”, or not fully realizing what makes you special.

What Next?
What are the talents and abilities you have? You can know them by also looking at your most meaningful experiences over the years. List the talents or gifts that you used, or that were part of those experiences. They are there to carry out your desires, and are part of your “design” of abilities. Many times those talents can be transferable to another area of interest or to a new experience. They are part of your personal tool kit. You bring them along with you.

When my husband and I had a label business, I remember hiring a marketing person who knew nothing about labels. We knew that he was a good marketer and would use those talents, which he did! I also remember a friend who was such a good organizer at home and in her volunteer activities. When she got a full time job she suddenly realized that her skills of organization would fit perfectly with her new job. She just had never thought of herself as a “business woman”, and in a way, undervalued the abilities she had “as a housewife”.

Setting Goals
Third, set goals that are based on your dreams. Goals can be defined in baby steps. Sometimes I find that easier and less intimidating than trying to take on everything all at once. Then, too, as one goal is accomplished, it leads to the next, and so on. Goals get you moving. I have often noticed it is when I am not doing anything at the moment, sort of drifting, that I feel the most restless. Goals can be empowering. You are taking action!

Decide what you need to do first as you start to fulfill your dreams. Maybe you need to gather more information about that dream, talk to others, write a business plan if it is called for, or figure out ways you can pursue your dream on a part time basis. I have known people who have done the latter. As their dream grew, so did the opportunity to eventually pursue it full time. Working on their dream “on the side” also provided added motivation for their full time job, because that job was enabling them to even consider a dream. In many cases the full time job later became a part time job, until that job gave way to a dream that was ready to be launched!

Your goals should be specific and well-defined, realistic, and exciting to you. You are identifying what you want to do with your life! Make a list of small things you could do to learn more about your dream, as you consider the reality, challenges, and rewards of that dream. A word here— if God has given you certain desires, He has a plan in mind for your life. Ask that that plan be revealed step-by-step. Remember, it may seem impossible. However, all resources are God’s. When His will and yours coincide, those resources are at your disposal and at the beck and call of the dream. Go forward with the belief that God will provide in accordance with His will and timing. Believe the impossible!

Happy dream journey,

Keep Your Photos Safe

Are your precious photos safe?

Are you backing up your precious photos? our computers and removable storage media are full with experiences and precious moments. However electronic media is not safe. Hard disks crash and removable media fails.

Disasters can happen. Digital photo albums are vulnerable and if not backed up you lose thousands of photos and a lifetime of moments in just one hard disk crash.

What are backups? backups are just copies of our files that are put in a safe place. Example of such copies can be photos put on a DVD and placed at a friend’s house. The DVD could of course be placed in your own house but that would be less safe since in case of a disaster in your house you might lose both your computer and the backups.

A few years ago backups were hard to make. You practically had to be a computer guru to figure our those backup software. Today however backup was made easy using a number of software solution and online service. Below you can find two main options for backing up your photo albums: burning them to a DVD/CD or using an online backup service.

Backing up to a DVD/CD

Backing up to a DVD/CD is done by using a DVD/CD writer drive and software that can burn files on such media. Usually using such solutions requires more technical know-how. Backing up to a DVD/CD is a cheap solution. You can buy such writer drives and software for probably under a $100 and each DVD/CD media should cost in the cents. One such software that has been around for a while and used by many is from Roxio.

When backing up your photo albums to a DVD/CD please make sure that you put the DVD/CD in a safe place a good option would be somewhere out of your home maybe a family member, a neighbor you can trust or a friend. Another thing to remember with DVD/CD backup is that when you take new photos you should remember to refresh your backups. Ususally unless your photo album is very big the easiest way to do that is just to burn again you complete collection.

Backing up to an online backup service

As any other service backup found its way to the Internet too. A number of sites provide backup services today for everything from digital photo albums to your word documents. Those services usually charge a monthly fee in the $10 to $20 but some provide a more limited service for free. The idea behind the service is simple: instead of backing up to a DVD/CD you just upload your photos to a site and create copy there. The site stores the backups for you in a safe place far away from your computer. If a disaster happens and you need your files you can simple download them back from the site or ask them to send you a DVD/CD with the files (not all provide the latter option). A broadband connection is needed in order to use this option.

There are many advantages to using an online backup service. First they are usually very easy to use. Some provide software that you download and install on your computer. You then point to the folder where your photos reside and the software takes it from there. It will make sure new files are uploaded to the backup service and that your backup is always fresh.

Examples of sites that provide such service are: Streamload that starts with a basic FREE 10GB space (approx 10,000 photos at 2 megapixels) and Xdrive that starts from 5GB for $10 a month.

Taking Pictures in Bad Weather #2

Mist or fog, like rain, has a certain charm and quality. Contrast changes and hues and shapes take on a subtle aspect. Almost everything looks better in the mist. Pictures will look mean and moody and sometimes have an added artistic look to them without you even trying. The brightness of the scene might fool your camera’s meter, but with some alterations to the exposure you are bound to get it right. And, of course, with digital, if you don’t like the result, just take it again with different settings and see if it’s any better. Look for areas where there is standing water as this will be where mist forms first and lingers longest.

Wind is unsettling. You can be buffeted wildly in some case and your equipment (especially a camera on a tripod) can be damaged. The movement created on trees and other objects can look dramatic but with longish shutter speeds you will get blur. This can be pleasing if you are trying to convey movement. Just be aware that you might need to experiment a little to get the result you are looking for.

Snow brings great opportunities but also added difficulties. The whiteness of the scene can markedly fool the camera and to get the right exposure you may have to compensate (overexpose) by 2 stops. Experimentation is the key. But look for objects and vegetation covered in snow and ice. Check for familiar objects with unfamiliar appearances. Falling snow can make dramatic shots and people will always be wrapped up warm which makes candids a must!

A good tip: have some plastic bags in your camera bag. These fold up small and are lightweight and easy to carry. They can be used to cover your camera and lens and to put down on the ground to protect your camera bag from water seepage. They are inexpensive, can be wiped and reused or simply thrown away and replaced. Using a lens hood will prevent water droplets collecting on your lens. It might be useful to carry a soft cloth or towel so you can periodically wipe your hands or your equipment.

Get the perfect exposure… every time!

Did you ever get back a fresh batch of film, only to be disappointed in finding out that you got back wash-out boring images.

The problem is that you didn’t expose your film properly.

Whether we use a digital or film camera, we need to be able to calculate exposure properly. But first, we need to understand how the aperture and the shutter work together. We also need to know how film handles light, and the relationship between film light sensitivity and f/stops.

Lets take a quick look at the main elements.

Aperture and f/stops: the aperture is an opening in the centre of the lens through which light passes. The amount of light which passes through an aperture is indicated by f/stops. The lower the f/stop the more light that passes through the aperture. Opening up one full f/stop doubles the amount of light entering the camera. F/4 admits twice the light of f5.6.

Shutter: the shutter is a mechanical device that controls the length of time that light is allowed to act on the film. Each time you open the shutter by one, we double the light, when we close down the light by one we half the light. Opening the shutter at 1 second allows twice the light as that of a second.

ISO (ASA): stands for International Standards Organisation. The initials are used for film speed which rates light sensitivity. A film with an ISO number 100 is twice as light sensitive as a film with an ISO of 50. The faster the film, the more sensitive it is to light.

Most digital SLR have ISO settings built in to them. If you are taking a low light image with a digital camera use a slow ISO rating of 200 or upwards.

Getting the perfect exposure isn’t easy, but there are several different ways of making it easier.

Using a light meter: there are two types of light meters,

1. Reflected-light meter (the same that is built into your camera) works by pointing the meter at your subject.

2. Incident-light meter: instead of pointing the meter at your subject, you stand beside the subject and point the meter at the camera. The light that falls on your subject will also fall on your meter.

The most common way is to use the meter built into your camera. All modern day cameras have a reflected-light meter built in to them. But don’t point the camera directly at your subject from 10 meters. This will more than likely underexpose your image. Take the exposure reading up-close, then return to the starting position and take your image.

It doesn’t matter which metering system we use, if we don’t point them in the right direction our images will return too dark or too bright. The key is to know where to point the meter.

When I take a landscape image I normally take five or six different readings. I take an incident-light reading with my light meter to record the foreground and a reflected-light reading of the sky.

If you are unsure take three or four images at different exposure settings. Don’t let a perfect picture moment pass by without recording it flawlessly.

Roulette System: 5 Biggest Gambling Mistakes You Should Avoid

In this article I’d like to share with you the 5 biggest
gambling mistakes of most average gamblers.
Las Vegas thrives on people making these mistakes
and makes more money this way.

Since it’s time you started winning follow
these tips so you win more and lose less :)

Discover how to turn professional at the casino
using my time tested advice and tips that
have won me thousands of dollars, and have got
me banned.

“The 5 Biggest Mistakes That you should avoid!”

For years the casinos have been ripping off players
just like you for hundreds of years, to generate
insane profits in the billions every year! Within this
article I’d like to share with you the five most
common mistakes gamblers make that maximize
your odds of losing, that you may not even
know you do!

The 5 Biggest Gambling Mistakes:

Most gamblers visit a casino in hopes of winning some
money but ultimately you gamble for fun. Unfortunately
people wholely on pure luck to win nearly always lose.
If you want to win then make sure you follow these rules…

Mistake #1. Not setting a bank roll limit.

When you go and visit a casino only take a certain amount
of money with you for gambling purposes, and leave all your
plastic cards at home. When you spend your entire bank roll
move on and find something else to do, don’t bother getting
emotionally involved with the games you’re playing because
it’s the quickest way to spend much more money!

Mistake #2. Not knowing how to play.

When you choose a certain game to play at the casino, you
should know well in advance exactly how the game works and
how to play it scientifically so you win more money. Most
players hit games they don’t know, thus they lose more than
they can gamble.

Personally speaking, if you truly want to super charge your
results, then I highly recommend you uncover every tip and
strategy for maximizing your odds

Mistake #3. Impairing your judgment.

The casino loves to fill their guests and customers with
free booze of all types and kinds. Drinking impairs your
judgement and gets you emotionally involved within the game
thus losing feels worse, and most importantly you won’t be
able to play using scientifically proven strategies that
shrink the odds of the casino winning.

Whatever you do, don’t gamble if you are going to be drinking.
It just makes no sense and just drains your bank roll!

Mistake #4. Choosing the wrong games.

In order to win you’ve got to choose the games that pay out
the most money and that the casino has less power of making
the odds of the game in their favor. Not all games are
created equal, so find out which games pay out the best and
then start practicing, studying and playing those games in
real life or the net, until you master it!

Once you’ve mastered a game then and only then are you
truly ready to fork out cash to play at a real casino.

Mistake #5. Picking the wrong casino.

Like the games themselves casinos are not all created equal
some casinos may pay out much better than others, and it’s
your job to find the best paying casino. If you are

Peter’s mind is 2X smaller then Homer Simpson and he is 2X fatter then Homer. He has no idea what he is doing or where he is. If it wasn’t for Louis, his wife he would be out of his job, his house and would have no life. He does many stupid things that homer wouldn’t. He always makes mistakes in his life and loses everything but later says ‘Sorry’ and gets back with his family. He runs from Death and even becomes death itself in a episode, where he had to kill his family. Peter always has new ideas for improving the Grifin’s lifes and become more popular or even a star, Mostof the times ‘Lious’, his wife would show him the right away and would lead him through his problems or he would have lost his life. He always tries to do something right and ends up doing the opposite and brining pain to every body. Brian, peter’s talking dog calls peter a pain in the ass and advises him to do everything the right way and stay away from trouble. Peter always realizes his mistakes at the end of the show and promises not to make this mistake again, which he forgets in 2 seconds. Life and death doesnt mean anything to him, he might play with death at any time and barely survives. Peter is always concerned about his weight and tries to lose weight in many episodes, where he some how gets his weight back and knows that he is not meant to be skinny. Peter misses recognizing danger or read danger signs and ends up putting himself in danger or life threat. He needs constant watch and someone to look after him or he will lose his life. He gets fired from his work many times because of his stupid mistakes and the danger he has caused. Peter is a easy believer, He would believe every small thing people or signs will tell him, even if its testing the new death shots or a sign telling him to jump off the bulding. Peter is brainless and is in lack of thinking or using his mind. He barely uses 1% of his mind. He makes his decisions fast with no real idea behind them which causes a big trouble for him. He is good with socializing people and talking about stuff people already know or not interested to know. He has lack of sense for others and takes alot longer to understand the truth behind something, He always thinks of himself before his family and friends and is reminded by his wife ‘Lious’ about the right path. Regret is a normal thing for peter, every decision and step he has taken which turns into disaster ends with regret to his family and friends. His family and friends are so tired of his sorries that it means nothing to them.

Online Video Poker Casinos - Best Places To Play

Good cards are a must when the stakes are high. Either that or a really convincing bluff, but no one can pull that off all the time. If one is to play online for large stakes then they are going to want to find a poker room that’s going to deal them decent hands when it counts. Some poker sites constantly deal crappy hands that can keep a player down on his luck. Here are some tips to choosing the right online video poker casinos to try your skills at.

One site is Paradise Poker. Some people know this site as the best place online to play poker. On this site there are constantly tournaments going on and a player will always find several high stakes games to enter. People have mentioned that this online video poker casino has the most pleasing graphics and yet it is not crowded with all sorts of unnecessary icons. For those players worried about the security of their money, Paradise Poker has shuffle card reviews from a highly recommended company, Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

Another good site to play poker at is Party Poker. With all of Party Poker’s efforts to get their name out there, all of the players they have brought to their tables have certainly rewarded them. It is worth noting, however, that although they do have quite a large amount of customers; their customer service is nothing to brag about. Party Poker is created by the people that started CardPlayer Cruises, which includes, Mike Sexton. Every year Party Poker hosts a rather large tournament known as Party Poker Million, which is also quite a draw for online poker players.

Poker Stars has never have a time where there is not a large tournament going on that anyone can enter. Popular with most of the free roll players, the site offers some fun stuff in the programming that keep them coming back time after time. Although the interface may appear rather chaotic with extensive graphics that can be used as player icons.

The Poker Room offers a variety of options, such as multi-table tournaments, as well as Texas Hold’em, Omaha, 7 Card Stud and a number of casino games. For those players worried about viruses, no download is needed in order to play on Poker Room.
