Masters Hood

The masters hood is worn by students who are graduating or have graduated with a masters degree. In most Commonwealth universities, there is a difference between the color and lining of the hood worn by bachelor students and that worn by masters students. The masters hood has a lining made of colored silk as opposed to the bachelors hood whose lining is made of white rabbit fur. The colors of the lining may represent the institution that is conferring the degree. For this reason, the masters hood must not have a divided trim which gives the wearer a representation of more than one degree.
